✨Echoes of Thought: Constructing Spaces for Reflection✨

“Echoes of Thought” is a project born from my desire to create a space where people can take a moment to think, connect, and reflect. This year, I’ve been focusing on making changes in my own life and figuring out what I need to let go of to move forward. I wanted to build a space that not only helps me continue my own journey but also invites others to reflect on their own.

The installation features portraits hanging from the ceiling, representing people of all ages, races, and backgrounds. There to remind us that we’re not alone in our experiences and that everyone goes through times of reflection and change. The portraits are meant to prompt viewers to think about the questions displayed on the walls.

Using mirrors and colors, I wanted to play with the idea of reflection—both literally and metaphorically. The mirrors are for self-reflection, while the portraits and colors add layers to the experience, encouraging viewers to dive deeper into their own thoughts and feelings.

I want to give a huge thank you to @cltartsfest @blumenthalarts for choosing me to be a Blumenthal Fellow this year and all of your support and guidance! Also a big thank you to Wells Fargo for sponsoring this year’s Fellows program!

Do y’all like alcohol markers 👀?

I’ve been using these Ohuhu markers for some time now.
I started using them while teaching a summer class with high school students. They are so vibrant and have the nicest brush tip that’s not too soft, not too stiff, and easy to blend. I also love the layering I can achieve with the colors !!!

Anyone have any alcohol markers that they love? Share them in the comments and if you’ve tried these, what do you like about them?

“Peace, for me, is a feeling of contentment within my own space. This mural speaks to my heart, depicting a Dominican woman tenderly holding a chicken surrounded by the beauty of nature. It transports me back to those warm moments with my family, where we’d gather together, surrounded by the comforting sights and sounds of our backyard. The gentle breeze blowing through the leaves as we lost ourselves in the rhythms of salsa music, while the chickens roamed freely, adding to the scene. It’s a reminder of the deep sense of peace and belonging that washes over me in those precious moments of connection and calmness.”
